This session will be a discussion of how to internally and externally advocate for improvements to the digital accessibility of content and functionality you are delivering to your patrons.

Audience

This series is intended for public libraries and educators. It will be most relevant for administrators or staff who manage the organization's website or social media presence, those who create content that is posted online, or those who work with 3rd party vendors of digital content and services.

Presenters:

Mary Lou Mobley graduated from Duke University in 1990 with a law degree and a Master’s in Philosophy. After clerking for a Federal judge, she joined the Federal government in Washington, DC, as a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Disability Rights Section, where she earned numerous awards including the John Marshall Award for Distinguished Service. In 2006, she moved to Denver and joined the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, where she currently serves as OCR’s National Disability Expert and Leader of OCR's National Digital Access Team.

David Kutch joined ED’s Office for Civil Rights in 2016 after beginning his government career in the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. David volunteered to join OCR’s National Digital Access Team in 2019, and is now a full time digital accessibility specialist. David is passionate about empowering school districts, colleges, universities, and libraries to create digitally inclusive environments, whether through audits, consultation, or training. He has had the privilege to produce educational content on digital accessibility and presents extensively on the topic.
