Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge: A Historical Perspective

Join renowned historian Chad S.A. Gibbs for an illuminating webinar that explores one of the most critical and intense battles of World War II. As we mark the 80th anniversary of this pivotal military engagement, Dr. Gibbs will provide a deep dive into the historical significance, strategic implications, and human experiences of the Battle of the Bulge.  

Drawing from his extensive research and expertise in war and society, Dr. Gibbs will offer unique insights into:

  • The strategic context of the German offensive in the Ardennes
  • Key military decisions and turning points during the battle
  • Personal stories and oral histories that bring this historic moment to life
  • The battle's broader impact on the course of World War II

Presenter:

Dr. Chad S.A. Gibbs, Assistant Professor, Jewish Studies and the Director of Zucker/Goldberg Center for Holocaust Studies is a historian of the Holocaust, antisemitism, and war and society at the College of Charleston. His work is devoted to understanding the timing, choices, and tactics of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust. Chad makes extensive use of oral history sources and practices both inside and outside the classroom. In that area, he holds ongoing positions as an Affiliated Researcher at the USC-Dornsife Center for Advanced Genocide Research and a Scholar Interviewer with the USC Shoah Foundation.
