Arts Integration for Public Libraries
Event box

Agenda:
Join us for a Spark literacy-based drama lesson with the SCGSAH Actor/Teachers, an introduction to Arts Integration, and strategies/teaching tools for librarians to use in their own programming.
The SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities outreach program Spark will unpack the unique and authentic relationship between drama and reading! Spark is a nationally recognized, evidence-based drama and literacy initiative designed to help elementary-aged readers learn the basic actor’s skill set with books and storytelling, with the goal of supporting reading motivation, creative thinking, and the Profile of the SC Graduate. This hands-on session will give you a sneak peek into standards-based strategies, as well as a deep dive into the how's and whys. Spark is not your ordinary drama or reading program; it’s a dynamic combination of both, with joy and inquiry stirred in and takes place inside school libraries and classrooms.
This programming is provided through the Office of Outreach at SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. Our Outreach programs seek to match available resources with the needs and interests of schools and partners statewide.
Lunch will be provided. Space is limited.
