Please join us for our next Speaker at the Center talk with author and historian, Tom Elmore

Since 1805, there have been numerous books, movies, and television shows about Brig. Gen. Francis Marion, the legendary "Swamp Fox" of the American Revolution.

Historian Tom, who has over twenty years of experience as a book, TV and film reviewer takes a look as some of the major works about Marion and examines what they got right and what they got wrong with a particular emphasis is place on the 1950s Disney mini-series The Swamp Fox. Prepare to be educated, entertained, and amused!

About the Author

Tom Elmore holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of South Carolina. He is the author of five books about South Carolina in the 19th century, as well as numerous articles in regional and national publications. He lectured all across the Mid-Atlantic States and has been a book reviewer for two national magazines.

Elmore is the current State Historian for the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He is also a member of the Richland County American Revolution 250th Committee, the Robert Burns Society of the Midlands and the Scottish Clan Davidson.  He is on the South Carolina Humanities Speaker’s Bureau. Tom lives in Columbia SC with his wife Krys and their Chihuahua Pixie.
