In this exchange, we will discuss cultural diversity in our libraries and surrounding communities. We will focus on ways to reach community members from all cultural backgrounds.

From this training, you will learn:

• Common experiences of immigrants and refugees and how these relate to library services

• How to overcome cultural and language barriers when working with diverse individuals

• Best practices for addressing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in public libraries

• Practical program and outreach ideas

• Tips on using Spanish in the library

• How to form or strengthen community partnerships

Lunch will be provided.

This learning opportunity is open to all library staff, but space is limited so you are encouraged to register early. There is a fee of $10 to register.

If you would like to cancel your seat and you meet the deadline indicated above, please contact Flora DuBose. You may send another staff person in your place, or receive a credit for a future CE event. Anyone who does not cancel prior to 5 business days before the event will be responsible for payment for the class.
