Laura Rogers and Emily Johansson, American Library Association’s 2017 Movers and Shakers from the Richland Library Learning Studio and Ann Whitten, President of the International Dyslexia Association of SC will present a day of hands-on learning using the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach to serve emerging readers and their families. Learn how to select appropriate books and materials for all types of readers that will meet the needs of the new expectations for 3rd grade reading in South Carolina. Explore programming ideas to aid in early reading intervention and meet the needs of dyslexic readers.

We would like to encourage South Carolina public libraries to send a Youth Services staff member to attend this special training. The IDA has generously donated starter collections for all South Carolina public libraries who send a representative to this training. Priority will be given to libraries that did not attend last year’s training.
