Event box
Description:
Genealogy materials can cover a wide range of subjects and can take a number of different forms. From rare books to maps to unpublished family histories, the genealogy cataloger encounters new challenges every day. Taught by cataloger and professor Sonia Archer-Capuzzo, this three-hour workshop with provide a basic overview of genealogy cataloging, from description to assigning subject headings and classification. Students are encouraged to bring materials or descriptions of materials, as the majority of the workshop will be spent talking about specific problems and coming up with solutions. By the end of the workshop, you should understand the basic tenets of cataloging genealogy materials and how to come up with creative ways to solve complex problems on your own and/or with the help of our community of genealogy catalogers.
