Join us from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019, for this month's author talk and book signing: Exploring the Southern Appalachian Grassy Balds: A Hiking Guide by Amy Duernberger.The “treeless wonders” of the southern Appalachians, grassy balds have long baffled scientists and enchanted outdoor enthusiasts. They exist as open spaces, often grassy meadows, on or near the summits of mountains. This is the first guidebook to focus exclusively on the southern Appalachian grassy balds and is organized into five geographic areas, with complete descriptions, maps, photos, and historical tidbits.

Speaker @ the Center is FREE and open to the public; however, we ask that you register to ensure a seat. This program will be held at the South Carolina State Library, 1500 Senate Street, Columbia.
