Webinar: The Micromanagement Cure: Using the Expectations Model for Effective Oversight

Description:

Leadership Webinar Series, Part 5

The Expectations Model has two main components: goals and parameters. If someone is able to achieve the goals within the parameters, how they do it is up to them, and is called style. Defining, describing, and tweaking those components can take weeks, even in a well-run organization, but it is more than worth the trouble. It keeps people (and projects) on track even while encouraging initiative.

Agenda:

  • Introduction: How Micromanagement Wastes Time
  • The Key Idea: Oversight Based On What Gets Done
  • Why This Is Not Just Another Job Description
  • If We Are Successful, How Will We Know
  • Professional Parameters: Cost, Time, Quality
  • Behavioral Parameters: Civility
  • How Is The Model Evaluated?

Outcomes:

  • Set results that are about what the job accomplishes.
  • Focus on goals, rather than processes.
  • Provide employees with the room to create their own methods.
