SECC Session: Let’s Move in Libraries!

Description:

The 2021 Southeast Collaborative Online Conference is a collective effort by the State Library of North Carolina, South Carolina State Library, Georgia Public Library Service, and Library of Virginia to offer innovative and useful online learning experiences for library staff at all levels through a convenient online conference.

Everyone has a role to play in increasing healthy living, including libraries! Join Michelle Bennett-Copeland, Fayette County [GA] Public Library; Christy Dyson, Fulton County [GA] Library System; and Noah Lenstra of Let’s Move in Libraries to learn how you can increase access to healthy living opportunities, including through StoryWalk®, seed collections, Yoga classes, gardens, cooking classes, and much, much more. In this session:

  • Participants will understand how to identify, initiate, and sustain community partnerships focused on increasing access to healthy living opportunities.
  • Participants will leave with tried and tested program ideas to increase healthy living among all ages through in-person, virtual, and passive programming.
  • Participants will learn how to describe to funders, board members, and other library staff the value and opportunities associated with promoting healthy living through library programming and partnerships.
