February Data Chat

Description:

It's a Love Data Week Data Chat!  With guest speaker Lynette Hoelter, PhD.

Is That Number Really True?

Quantitative information pervades our world, but have you ever really stopped to think about where all those numbers come from? We tend to approach numbers as “cold hard facts,” but all data have to come from somewhere. The process of collecting and presenting quantitative data is made up of seemingly small decisions that could affect the trustworthiness of the result. This short session will note some of those decisions and suggest some key questions for thinking critically about what you see.
