SUMMARY:The Connected Library: Vetting and Partnering with Social Service Providers
DESCRIPTION:Description:\n\nAs we have witnessed the social\, financial\, 
 and mental health challenges of our patrons escalate during the COVID-19 
 pandemic\, libraries must connect and build relationships with local 
 providers focused on these needs so that we may serve our communities as 
 effectively as possible. This session will explore why it is imperative 
 that libraries connect with social service providers in their communities\, 
 how to cultivate these connections\, and tips to make sure the agencies you 
 work with are effective\, ethical partners.\n\nThis webinar will be 
 recorded.\n\nPresenter:\n\nPatrick Lloyd\, LMSW was the first public 
 library social worker in Texas. He currently works as Community Resilience 
 Consultant for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Patrick is 
 an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Steve Hicks School of 
 Social Work and a former co-chair of the PLA Social Worker Task Force. 
 Patrick has presented at ALA\, PLA\, and the Texas Chapter - National 
 Association of Social Workers annual conferences and for information 
 professionals around the country. He lives in Georgetown\, TX with a grumpy 
 beagle.\n\nLocation: \n\nThis webinar will take place virtually using Zoom.
